CHANGING MY LIFE IN 28 DAYS – PART 1

Over the past few months, I’d been feeling unmotivated and somewhat lazy. I wasn’t accomplishing what I needed to and lacked the drive to push forward. To break this cycle, I set out to change my life in just 28 days by taking on a series of challenges. My goal was to establish better habits and, hopefully, inspire others to do the same.

The plan involved several key commitments: going to bed at 10 PM and waking up at 7 AM, learning a new skill every week, going on an adventure, exercising five days a week, always showing up on time for my appointments and more things. To make it more interesting, I added a twist: I had two “lives” to lose. If I failed twice before December 1st, I’d have to shave my head as a penalty. This made the challenge more exciting and fun to follow.

The content was divided into four videos, each covering a week of the journey, from Monday to Sunday. I edited the videos using DaVinci Resolve, which I’ve always found reliable and well-suited to my skill set. In this first video, I share my initial experiences and reflections. My skill for the week was learning to whistle, and my adventure was hiking the Rot Platte, which rises 1,500 meters above sea level.

Self-Reflection

Creating this video was a huge learning experience and a departure from my usual content. It was a significant project, and I felt everything went smoothly during the first week. I managed to edit nearly the entire video before the week ended. I rented a microphone and attempted to “interview” myself, which turned out to be quite challenging. Remembering what I wanted to say while avoiding stumbling over my words was tricky. I experimented with new editing techniques, including creating a captivating intro, which added a fresh, creative touch to the video.

Challenges

Filming myself at the beginning of the video was difficult. I had to record my self-interview 2-3 times due to distorted audio or improper camera focus. Additionally, I filmed with multiple cameras and SD cards, which made organizing my footage a bit chaotic. To make the challenge’s stakes more engaging, I created a fun skit showing myself using clippers and shaving my head, adding a personal and humorous touch to the video which I used Adobe After Effects to make.

What I Learned

Through this process, I learned the importance of testing equipment before using it. Asking a friend for help can also make a big difference instead of trying to handle everything solo. I realized I need to improve my organization, especially when managing SD cards and video files, as mixing them up caused unnecessary confusion.
