Markus Hartmann – MTB interview
My task was to interview Markus Hartmann, a former professional mountain bike rider from Denmark. Markus shared his story about how he got started in mountain biking, how sponsorships worked, his best experiences, and gave insights into how the mountain biking world operates.
The goal was to make it an engaging interview and add some personal flair. I used DaVinci Resolve for editing and spent extra time finding music that matched the different themes discussed. Since many of the photos and videos were shot horizontally, I came up with a creative way to present them, giving the video a nostalgic feel.

Self-Reflection
The video itself turned out quite well, but I feel I could have asked him better, more specific questions to dive deeper into certain topics. At times, the conversation felt a bit unstructured. However, I think the music, photos, and videos created a great atmosphere for an interview where the viewer remains engaged while the interviewer still gets to ask meaningful questions.
Challenges
The audio quality wasn’t ideal since it was recorded directly on an iPhone and later boosted using Adobe Podcast. I tried to improve it with some EQ adjustments and effects, but it wasn’t perfect. Additionally, I only had one camera, so having a second angle, like a side view would have made the interview visually more dynamic.
What I Learned
I’ve learned the importance of researching and preparing for interviews before jumping straight into the project. I also realized the value of using a good microphone, as high-quality audio makes the video much more enjoyable to watch. Lastly, I learned to streamline the questions to keep the interview concise and avoid unnecessary topics.
