Scenes that Took my Breath Away

Self-Reflection

Creating this audio story was about capturing Carmen’s journey in a way that made listeners feel they were right there with her. I wanted every sound to add to the experience, bringing to life her first steps in Egypt with the right mix of ambient and background sounds.

Efforts and Learning

Learning to edit sound was new for me, and it took time to find the right balance. I experimented with BandLab to layer in sounds that matched her story: the rumble of an airplane landing, the slam of a car door, and Cairo’s lively street sounds. Adding touches like camel noises and soft water flow added depth, and finding music with an Eastern vibe was essential to set the scene without distracting from her voice.

Challenges

One of the biggest challenges was recording with the equipment I had and ensuring every sound was clear yet natural. I tried different spaces and microphone settings, constantly adjusting to get a result that felt authentic. it was more like crafting an immersive experience.

What I Learned

I’ve learned how much a well-chosen sound can transform a story, and that audio editing is as much about feel as it is about technique. Each small effect, became key to helping listeners imagine her experience.

What I’m Looking Ahead for

I’m excited to keep exploring sound editing and building on what I learned here. I hope this piece transports listeners to Carmen’s world, letting them feel Egypt’s magic through sound.
