The village center of Uetikon am See lies disconnected from the lake, on a plateau above the hillside, which leads down to the site of the old chemical plant bordering along the lakeside of the Zürichsee. ThThe main aim of the task was to generate a new urban center for Uetikon by creating an open workshop for the residents in Uetikon to meet and create as a community. An insertion of a rectangluar volume inside the existing structure, following the given rhythm of pillars, inculdes the main design gesture. Exhibition spaces face the main alleyway of the area. Various workshops for wood and metal on the ground flfloor, aswell as textile and pottery workshops on the upper floors, conclude the creative programs.
