Many different camel tours can be booked in Sharm el Sheikh. A 40-minute tour through the desert costs about $10 per person which includes the pick-up and drop-off at your hotel or house.
Usually a driver will pick you up in a jeep and take you to the Bedouins in the desert. The trip through the sand dunes in the desert is already an adventure in itself!
Once you’ve arrived at the meeting point, you get on a camel and are guided by bedouins through the most southern part of the Sinai peninsula.
You get to visit an uninhabited part of a Bedouin village, where you will learn more about the culture and life of the Bedouins. Tea and fresh bread, which are prepared directly at the fire, are served to you.
For 20 L.E., equivalent to about CHF 1.20, you can buy Bedouin teas for different purposes. The natural tea is made from special spices and herbs from the desert. The different types of tea are intended to relieve stomach pain or headaches.
Other handmade souvenirs, such as necklaces or rings, can also be purchased. Bedouins don't just accept your money. If you want to support them, you should buy a souvenir.
